There exist four species of horseshoe crab.

Three of them live in Asia, around the coasts of India, Vietnam, China, Borneo and southern Japan.

These are;

• The mangrove horseshoe crab (Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda).

Most horseshoe crabs spend most of the year in deep water. Every spring, they migrate to the shallows, emerging from the sea to mate along the beaches on moonlit nights, when the tide is high.

The Female is about 18 to 19 inches (46 to 48 centimeters) from head to tail, while the males are approximately 14 to 15 inches (36 to 38 centimeters).

Feeding

The horseshoe crab eats smaller undersea organisms such as worms, clams, crustaceans, algae, and other animals.
